Installation You can quickly install the application in just three simple steps 1. Navigate to icon{name="custom SimpleDiagrams"} Simple Diagrams in the Atlassian Marketplace. 2. Click on the Get it now button. 3. Follow the prompts on the window that appears, and click Get it now . That's it! The macro is now installed and ready to use immediately.
Adding macro to the page To utilize icon{name="custom SimpleDiagrams"} Simple Diagrams for Confluence, follow these steps 1. Create a new page or open an existing one for editing. 2. Insert the \ SimpleDiagrams Simple Diagrams macro using one of the following methods Click the plus icon (Insert more contents) in the page's toolbar, then find and select the icon{name="custom SimpleDiagrams"} Simple Diagrams for Confluence macro. While editing page content, type , then find and select the Simple Diagrams for Confluence macro from the options 3. A dialog will open, allowing you to Create a new diagram or work with existing ones. [!NOTE] To explore options in detail, click on the relevant buttons in the diagram above.
Create new diagram When you select the Create new option while adding a icon{name="custom SimpleDiagrams"} Simple Diagrams macro, you'll be able to generate a new diagram and insert it directly into the desired page in Confluence. Once you click the Create new button, a new diagram is generated, stored in the page's attachments, and opened in the editor [!NOTE] Clicking Create new will create empty diagram in the page attachments. After completing your work on the diagram, click the Save & Exit button to save the changes and exit the editor, or click Exit to discard any changes made (if any) and leave. Afterwards, you'll see a preview of the created diagram. [!NOTE] Saving the diagram will update file version in attachments, but won’t raise page version.
Open from device When you select the Open from device option while adding a icon{name="custom SimpleDiagrams"} Simple Diagrams macro, you can choose any diagram with the .drawio extension stored on your device and update it using the editor. The selected diagram will be saved in the page’s attachments. Clicking the Open from device button will open the file manager. [!NOTE] Only files with the .drawio and .gliffy extension can be selected, and you can choose only one file at a time. Once you select the diagram, it will open in the editor Once you've finished working on the diagram, click the Save & Exit button to save your changes and exit the editor. Alternatively, click Exit to discard any changes (if made) and leave. Afterwards, you'll see a preview of the uploaded diagram. [!NOTE] Saving the diagram will update file version in attachments, but won’t raise page version.
Select from page attachments When you choose the Select from page attachments option while adding a icon{name="custom SimpleDiagrams"} Simple Diagrams macro, you'll be able to select any existing diagram attached to the page with the .drawio or .gliffy extension, insert it into the page, and open it for editing. When you click the Select from page attachments button, a list of page attachments with the .drawio or .gliffy extension will be displayed Select a diagram from the list above, and it will be opened in the editor [!NOTE] Selecting diagram from attachments doesn’t create copy of diagram, i.e. if you select the same diagram in 2 macros, changes will be displayed in both macros. Once you have finished working with the diagram, click the Save & Exit button to save the changes and exit the editor. Alternatively, you can click Exit to discard any changes made and leave. Afterwards, you will see a preview of the selected diagram. [!NOTE] Saving the diagram will update file version in attachments, but won’t raise page version.
Open URL When you select the Open URL option while adding a icon{name="custom SimpleDiagrams"} Simple Diagrams macro, you will be able to open a diagram exported as a URL and update it in the editor. The diagram you open will be saved in the page's attachments. After clicking the Open URL button, you will see the following dialog After inserting the URL and clicking the Open button, the diagram will be opened in the editor Once you've finished working on the diagram, click the Save & Exit button to save the changes and exit the editor, or click Exit to discard any changes and leave. Afterwards, you'll see a preview of the uploaded diagram. [!NOTE] Saving the diagram will update file version in attachments, but won’t raise page version.
Working with macro in edit mode After adding macro to the page you will be able to see diagram preview in Confluence page Edit mode. In addition, you will be able to edit diagram, change macro size, copy macro or delete it from the page. All actions are available in macro configuration panel . To bring the panel on the screen you need to click on the macro. <span style="color #505f79" Macro configuration panel</span Clicking on the pencil icon will open diagram editor. Your macro can be centered , take medium space on the screen or go full width . Macro can be copied and used on the same page or some other page in Confluence. [!NOTE] Copied macro will be looking at the same diagram, as original macro, so all updates in the copied macro will be reflected in the original one. Finally you can delete macro from page using remove button. [!TIP] You can replace diagram on the page with another existing one by deleting macro from the page and adding it again. This way you will be able to import existing diagram from device, URL or select from attachment.
Working with macro in view mode After publishing page containing macro, your diagram will become dynamic, i.e. links, pages and layers you’ve created will become available for interaction.  Hovering over the diagram will bring up the diagram toolbox . Using the toolbox you will be able to navigate through diagram pages , resize the diagram, toggle layers , open diagram in full screen mode or edit the diagram. Full screen mode can be opened by clicking on the diagram. Layover in full screen mode provides similar to diagram toolbox functionality. To exit full screen mode click x or press ESC on the keyboard.
